Ahh..the old Mortise locks or Chubb locks as most people know them as.

Not many about now as most places seem to have been sold UPVC or composite doors but pick a good one fitted to a good solid door with a nightlatch, and to many locksmiths/burglars they are still one of the hardest doors to gain entry to without damage, unless you have a big red key like the police.

Many years ago i trained with now world renound locksmith to learn the art of picking and identifying a mortise lock through a keyhole..but even now it puts a shiver down my spine when someone needs one opening, but still like the Upvc doors ive never been beaten by one or damaged a door opening one up.
